Inside every professional singer is an amateur singer and vice versa. But there are some points that make them different. There are singers who are very clear that for them singing is simply a hobby.

That’s fine, although sometimes it makes them wonder is what should really be important as singers, still amateurs. Meanwhile, there are others who dream of being professional singer, but who don’t know everything behind it.

According to John polit, people’s lives are like an iceberg. There is a part that is shown to the surface and that we can all see, but we will never know what that person really is like, because most of what it is hidden under the sea. The case of professional singers is no different. You can see the superficial part that is that they live from what they like. And besides, it’s singing, which is a beautiful thing that frees the soul.

However, there are many things that hide under freezing water: countless sacrifices, pressure, stress.

Let’s look at some differences, explained by John Polit miami, between professional singers and amateur singers so you really know if you want to be one or the other:

#1: Professional singer needs quick results

Time flies in this industry and the one that takes longer than the rest is left behind. So, if you have something to improve in your voice, you can’t afford not to spend enough time on it.

What’s more, there’s always something to improve. If you’re a professional singer you can’t settle for what you have, you have to work to do better. If you don’t make the cut they’re going to pick someone else in your place, so you can’t leave bars with your friends instead of just playing at home.

The amateur singer is in no hurry because no one wants to hire him, and he does not even cares.

#2: The professional singer should take care of his appearance and diet

It sounds like a cliché, but the looks are very important for a singer, because he’s addressing an audience.

Take care of yourself a little- be presentable! The thing is, you have to look something your audience feels identified with, more than anything so that the message you’re transmitting arrives and doesn’t get distracted by other needs.

Instead, the amateur singer doesn’t have to worry about those things.

#3: If you’re a professional singer you have to make certain sacrifices

Music is your life and that’s going to be the most important thing for you. Because it’s your job and you’re going to depend on it.

The priority is to take care of your voice:

· You can’t afford bad habits like tobacco or alcohol.

· You also can’t afford it if you’re prone to reflux eating whatever you want.

· You have to take good care of yourself so your voice is healthy.

The difference between the two is that the amateur singer doesn’t put his way of life at stake because of his bad habits. If those bad habits affect him, he assumes them and that’s it.

If you’re an amateur singer and didn’t know that tobacco, alcohol or reflux are bad for your voice, now you do. So, if you still decide to keep up with those bad habits consciously, you’re assuming the consequences they can bring you.

What is the similarity between a professional singer and an amateur?

Yes, you do have to train your voice if you want to improve or if you want to keep it free of damage.

Being an amateur singer doesn’t make you immune to polyps, nodules or edema. Whether you force your voice, whether you do it or not, you’re going to pay the physical consequences.
